Replacing Your Pickleball Paddle’s Base Grip

  • April 30, 2025

Vancouver Island Pickleball, powered by Courtside Sports, most recent video provides a full walkthrough with Tyler to assist players wanting to replace their paddle’s grip.

Tyler begins the video with a quick explanation of the terminology surrounding paddle grips, noting that there’s a base grip that goes underneath, adding cushioning. The other component is an over grip that goes on top of the base grip of the handle. It can increase the tackiness and also, more sweat absorption.

The grip should unwrap pretty cleanly. Sometimes, there’s also an adhesive backing on it as well. Sometimes that comes off the actual grip itself. It’s good to have a clean handle to work with. So, just removing all of that is going be the best course of action.
