The first annual Pickles for Patients Charity Classic wrapped up Sunday with a strong turnout, spirited competition and a celebration of the growing pickleball community on the Saanich Peninsula and Island.

Organized in partnership with Court Crushers and Panorama Recreation, the charity tournament brought players together while raising support for Shoreline Medical. Event organizers expressed their appreciation to sponsors Vancouver Island Pickleball – Official Group Page and Peninsula Community Pickleball Club, whose support helped make the event possible.
Competitors battled for top honours across five mixed-doubles divisions. In the 3.0 skill division for players aged 50 and above, Julie Ng and Steve Ng captured gold, followed by Kristina Bentley and Michael Seal with silver, and Lisa van Bommel and Paul Van Bommel with bronze.
In the 3.0 open-age division, Melinda Stephenson and Shaun Jones won gold. Cara Schartner and Mike Dillabaugh earned silver, while Maranatha Remillard and Andrew Remillard took bronze.
Rhonda Stoner and Richard Leung topped the 3.5 division for players aged 50 and above. Barb Lightbody and Simon Lightbody finished second, with Krista Josselyn and Clayton Foster claiming bronze.
In the 3.5 open-age division, Renate Gepraegs and Peter Stofko won gold, followed by Sian Bentley and Beck Hua in silver and Miyuki Westcott and Luc Charpentier in bronze.
The 4.0 open-age division saw Rachel Lott and Matt Krzepkowski take first place. Leah Gordon and Dwayne Gordon earned silver, while Nikki Ligon and Wayne Tran secured bronze.
